Day 3 - Langkawi, Malaysia
Translated from Malay, Langkawi means 'land of the reddish-brown eagle'. We're not sure what the Malay term for 'stunning mountainous island with impossibly white beaches and turquoise water' is, but it could surely be named that, too. Langkawi comprises a group of 99 tropical islands lying off the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The main island is known as Pulau Langkawi. Langkawi has been accorded Geopark status by UNESCO for its beautiful geological heritage of stunning landscapes, karsts, caves, sea arches, stacks, glacial dropstones, and fossils. The best way to appreciate the impossibly stunning beauty of this place? Take a cable car trip up the mountain, and be ready for your jaw to drop when you reach the top! Take a cruise along the Kilim River. Ride a cable car up Langkawi's second highest peak. Visit Underwater World, Asia's premier marine and freshwater aquarium.
